I love the emotions and nationalism of the World Cup, but man the French countryside is breathtakingly beautiful.

yeah this is all completely true... esp. the shots of the castles that are centuries old... esp. since I'll probably never get to go there

also... just a couple years ago they went through Oradour-sur-Glane... seeing the ruins of the old city which was where the Nazis completely massacred everyone in the town before destroying it... while the cyclists passed through the new city was interesting to see (esp. for a history nerd like myself)

also... an American is currently in 2nd place in the TdF

he won't be there much longer though

meanwhile... the US soccer team has to wait at least another 4 years before getting to play in the World Cup again

Scenes like this will do that...

While I am sure it's cool to see the Tour de France in person, I get absolutely 0 entertainment value from watching dudes ride a bike.

World Cup is just gay dudes running around for 90 min

Ah.. As opposed to the riveting excitement of watching grown men dressed like Richard Simmons ride around on their 4k Huffy's.

We watch Tour de France every year. My husband mostly...but I'll watch when he has it on.

Not that there’s nothing wrong with that.

the sprint stages... the only interesting part is the final 500 meters of the race

but time trials are very interesting... and the high mountain stages are filled with drama b/c that's where the overall race is decided

The vistas, the architecture, and the country side is worth watching the somewhat boring race.

I think soccer is boring as hell and most of the players are drama queen homos.

That being said, I would infinitely rather watch a World Cup match than people riding bikes.
