Well I think no one really understands autism so I’ll go with that.

I’d say fibromyalgia. My cousin has it and when he can get his medicine for it it’s livable even though he has to go to multiple doctors to get his prescriptions filled. But when he can’t get his medicine he can barely get out of bed, has cold sweats, sometimes he has diarrhea, it really is such a sad disease

These are two totally different conditions.

I think it's obvious anything to do with the brain is going to be more misunderstood, as even doctors and the science research haven't figured it out.

My son is epileptic and a tad on the autism spectrum. Hell, they really can't even do anything about seizures other than medication. Took them a long time to determine where his seizures originated in his brain... and yet, still really can't do anything other than medication. They did change is medication to address more localized issues since they discovered where the seizures began.

The brain will never be fully understood.

edit:
didn't realize it was a jokey rhetorical question...

Sad that Americans can't acquire prescribed medications. Also sad that many medications are outrageously expensive.

It has been fetishized by Hollywood and a good example is "The Good Doctor."

Your cousin and every other person with “fibromyalgia”, is an opiate addict. But I think that’s what you were getting at

To be fair, as someone that has Fibro, it’s often used a catch all diagnosis and it’s typically not “visual” so people just assume it’s laziness.

Best way I can describe it is getting flu aches when you don’t have the flu. And for days, sometimes weeks, at a time. I’ve been lucky that mine is mild enough to manage it with OTC supplements and exercise. Some days though, it’d be real easy to just say frick it and crawl in bed for the day.

The golden standard for Fibro is nerve pain drugs (not opioids) or SSRIs. You’re proving his point.
