They're climatological phenomena. So a La Nina may make certain areas drier or wetter on average, but remember these are just averages based on large datasets. Any dataset will have outliers and deviations from the mean, in either direction.


For what it's worth, when I'm writing a forecast, I don't pay any attention at all to ENSO or NAO or any other climatological oscillation because they really don't matter at all for 3-5 day periods.

-Upper Level Ridge 300-500 mb.
Promotes sinking air. This creates inversions and water air at sfc. Adiabatic heating due to compression.

High pressure at surface will draw air off of Gulf this weekend creating higher moisture content Td plus fog development next several days .

Moisture gets trapped under inversions creating dense fog and afternoon clouds.

No significant cool down in Louisiana for at least seven days.
