Where to go in Colorado in December?

Wife wants to see snow, we are not really interested in skiing, but would not mind having the option. I understand most things will revolve around skiing, but we really want to just hang out in the mountains. Which town/city around Denver (it is cheap to fly there around that time) would give us the most options other than skiing?

Probably a non-mountain town like Colorado Springs or Boulder. Most mountain towns are pretty small and skiing is the primary option for entertainment.

That's the other end of the state from Denver. Roughly a 4 hour drive in the winter.
Plus, other than the hot springs, what the hell did you do for a week in Glenwood? Dated a girl from there in college and went and stayed with her family. Wonderful people and all, but it was a really small town with not much going on.

Love Breckenridge...also, close-by...check out the Copper Mountain sleigh rides. Moonlit sleigh rides pulled by draft horses. It is amazing how visible the stars are in the night sky, and very cool to hear the snow crunching under the sleigh.
