I'm trying to purchase original architectural plans/drawings by famous Louisiana architect A. Hays Town. I've checked eBay with no luck. Any idea where I might be able to find some for sale? I'm sure there are plenty privately owned around the Baton Rouge area specifically. Maybe someone here knows a friend or family member who is willing to part with them? I'm looking to have them framed as a gift. I don't even need a whole set. Just one or two pages would be perfect.

He should have changed it to The. Like Ohio State did.

I inherited one and got one for my wedding. I can’t sell them. The former is of a family owned home and the latter is actually a blueprint of our farm property on river road.

No clue where to buy them though. They are not that insanely rare.

Don't have any Hays...sorry. Weird I can't help because like most people here on the OT I am an avid collector of prominent Louisiana architectural sketches.

When I searched the topic on google a thread on TD from last year popped up asking "Anyone one here live or grew up in an A. Hays Town designed house?" It had 4 pages worth of replied, so I figured this was as good a place to start as any.

Maybe you can make him a copy? I'm sure a 9x11 would be fine.

Google Chris Town or J Adam Town Construction. Those are his grandsons (Adam may be great grandson). They may be willing to look and sell you something.

Why not just buy his book....it is pretty good.

What’s the market price on that?

I actually already own the book. I'd love to have a set of the plans for myself, but I'm actually looking to purchase them as a gift for someone else.

Of course it would be tree fiddy. I'd personally give him a discount to 288 though.

I hope you're willing to spend some serious coin.

Most don't hit the market so private sellers can really ask a premium for them.

Check locally-owned frame shops. If they don't have any, they SHOULD know who does or which galleries or dealers to seek out.

I've seen original Frank Lloyd Wright plans selling for around $750, which must be in higher demand than Town. Not sure how much a single page from a set of Town's plans could go for, but I'd be willing to spend a few hundred for nice ones.

You’ve seen original FLW blue prints for $750?

There are at least 8 of them listed on eBay right now from a private estate for $1,000 or less.
