I actually already own the book. I'd love to have a set of the plans for myself, but I'm actually looking to purchase them as a gift for someone else.

Our word "Checkmate" derives from it

There are at least 8 of them listed on eBay right now from a private estate for $1,000 or less.
Damn, I would've never guessed they'd be that low. I'm assuming they're all authenticated?
FLW must've made a ton of them for people.
One thing that might hurt you is that most people that own A Hays Town blue prints still live in the house or have family live in the house. That has sentimental value you can't really put a price on.

I'm trying to purchase original architectural plans/drawings by famous Louisiana architect A. Hays Town.
I have one of the Steele Burden house... but it's hand written "to" my Grandma and signed by A Hays Town, so needless to say I won't be selling it.

You can keep searching but you wont find any originals. Most of the remaining blueprints in decent condition are the "property of the house" or are passed along to the origional homes owners. Sometimes along with his book.
I have personally worked on several Hays Town homes in the BR area and the few that had plans were a PITA to get a copy made for what I needed. The owners know what they have and they know you can not get more if damaged so they are very reluctant to release them for copies.

Are you looking to do all that or are you actually looking to do all that?

I don't have them for my home, original owner took them I guess, and wish I could get a copy. Will his firm make you a set if you provide proof you live in one of his homes?
