Computer science really isn't an engineering field.

Actually get to circulate a gas kick. Not really something someone with a PETE degree will ever do, but cool nontheless.
I know, I'm just breaking all you engineer's balls.
But really, it has little real world value.

I think there is still a small pocket of us in the tech industry that makes ungodly money for companies like Google/Intel/Apple to retain them from getting poached. Some of the dollar figures there blew my mind for engineers.
Tell us more. What were their undergrad degrees in? Was this in California (specifically the Bay Area)?

Should be higher imo. We have plenty of students who turned down offers from MIT and Cal-B to go LSU's fine institution

What do they do? Teach you how to work the satellite TV in the company man trailer?
There's a certain technique you need to use when kicking your feet back

I agree with this. Computer science Electrical Engineering in VLSI/semiconductors is not good at LSU...funny because that is my field, but I can admit..its not that good.
but the foosball and the chicks were always top notch!

EE/CE, I will see if I can find that news story. Yep, it's pretty much limited to Silicon Valley and was talking about their anti poaching agreements and such. It's the exception not the norm out there.

In the end does it even make a difference for you after you got beyond the first door? Got to any decent school and you should be able to get a shot, after that you can make yourself a great engineer or a terrible one no matter which school you went to...

this is correct.
LSU taught me enough to do well in a technical interview as an entry level candidate. 95% of what I know, I learned on the job and not even Stanford could have taught me that.

I know it's off-topic, but did anyone else notice that Oklahoma State and University of Oklahoma price per credit hour is only $175 for full-time in state students? That's $100 less than the shitty CC that I go to.

Nope.. No difference. Its all about that first job in an industry where job jumping is sadly required to get ahead. No rewards for loyalty. I would imagine Engineering is simular to CSC in this regards maybe not.
Honest question to anyone 10 years + into their field. Does anyone really use anything they learned while in college outside of say problem solving skills etc.. I couldnt pass a second calc test to save my life today.

This is even more off-topic but can one of you smart guys help me out real quick...
In a multi-stage vertical pump, are the diffusers in the stack allowed to spin or should they be stationary?
