Any of the below will do
St. John
Hanalei Bay/Princeville, Kauai
Sitting on a cliff and watching the surfers get smoked by huge waves while drinking a beer on the north shore of Maui

Why?
Although I'm not surprised you want to do the same thing forever. I've seen the same problem in many folks like you

Why would I sell everything and move to hang out with a bunch of strangers?
In a local with extremely limited medical facility's and voodoo doctors which might be a consideration as you get old enough to retire.

The older you get the more you understand the the only things that really matter are Faith, Family, Friends and Food.
Being lonely in the most beautiful place in the world would suck after a while.

As a general question to all, what's stopping you from moving there now instead of waiting for a proverbial retirement? More of a hypothetical than practical question I know.
I'm retired. Due to health problems, all plans were washed out the door.
Another thing is if you have grandkids. There is no way in the world I could drag my wife away from the one we have.
We did a trip down in the Keys a few years ago looking at houses. That was before I got sick. Due to not being able to speak the local language, I said screw that crap.

I wouldn't mind having a summer cabin in Sedona or Flagstaff or Prescott or Payson, AZ.

Yeah change this thread to where you'd like a vacation home my answer would change.

I mean it does sound awesome to pack up and retire to Costa Rica. But logistics are what would bother me. What kind of healthcare would I have access to there?
We get so many retired snowbirds from Canada and the Midwest every winter. Many of them own condos here just for that. So why would I move away in the winter when it's perfect weather for my old arse. Just buy a cabin to go to in the summer months when my 70 year old arse isn't wanting to deal with the heat
And yet, I still have access to decent healthcare and family.

Fortunately, I can admit at this stage...Me is severely overrated.

The bad thing is a vacation home ties you to one place kinda. We are thinking about buying one now and that's something that came up

I'm kind of not a baller. Small beach condo and I'll be good.
