Sure. Based on your sig pic, we may not always see eye-to-eye on politics, but I'll give it a whirl.

Yes it is. I know people who have never flown anywhere. The farthest they've ever gone is Destin.

It has more to do with a small town mindset, than a "Louisiana thing".

Here:

I'm engaged to what will be my first wife so I guess only my second wife will get to enjoy this. With this way I can sail to the Georgia coast home of 95% of my family and still sail basically wherever I want to in the world. But probably based out of Tortola.

Lutak Inlet. It's about 80 miles north of here near Haines.

I've been fascinated with this place for 20 years. Very tranquil, low key, good people.

There are parts of Louisiana that literally sadden and depress me.

When I reach that point, I'm selling everything, buying a yacht to park in the cove of White Bay, and drowning myself in Painkillers and Bushwhackers from the Soggy Dollar with my wife until the end of my time.

That kinda sounds awesome!

Everyone naming exotic places needs to think about healthcare though.

You'll be old and will want access to good healthcare. It's a guarantee that you will need it at some point as your body gets older and older.

That's how I start feeling by day 4 of my visits back to LA

But 2006 has a good point. Every state has depressing areas. Out here the Mexican ghettos are depressing as are the Indian reservations (now that is depressing as hell, many of them live sometimes with no running water in some of the more remote areas)

Ya but they get to live 2 minutes from downtown Scottsdale and each have like 5 acres of land. Its crazy how run down they let their houses get though, just pure laziness!

I'll take my chances in the Philippines. I've got the money, my wife's Philippine, and a good friend of mine--an orthopedic surgeon in S.F.--is heading there in the next couple years. Hell, if I stay in the U.S. whatever wealth I have could easily be sucked up in medical expenses. It couldn't be much worse in Laoag City or wherever I end up.

I'm talking about way up north in Navajo Nation 480. Where they are literally living in the middle of nowhere.

Not salt river.
