Turbo Tax
Used to pay a CPA (Wife has a business, we have rentals, partner in 2 LLC's and W2 income).
It was getting ridiculous what I was being charged.
So one year I gave the CPA my info and kept a copy of the source records for myself...did it in Turbo Tax myself and then compared it to what the CPA gave me back.
That was the end of the CPA.

I'm kind of in the same boat. My CPA charges me $450 and its worth it IMO.

By a friend who is a CPA and has his own practice. Gives me a 40% discount and will represent me for free if audited....as long as I didn't lie about said income/taxes. Used Turbo tax for a long time, then got into a few partnerships, RE, etc that became a PITA to deal with. Worth the money I pay him, big time.
