I searched yesterday and did not find anything. So it does appear that the doctor was a woman beater and she felt like he was going to kill her so she protected herself and shot him first.

did the DA make any kind of offical statement saying they aren't going to charge or is it an open investigation?

There is no way to prove either way if any abuse occurred that night. We are obviously only getting her side of the story and she could easily have created any marks or bruises on her face. So I don't see charges getting filed

Still an open investigation. They are making sure they can put her away before they do anything. Keep in mind this is the first relatively high profile case for the new DA. He is going to be extremely thorough before making a move one way or the other. The rumor in the courthouse is that she was cheating and he confronted her about it. Take that with a grain of salt.
