there is a pattern of abuse

The previous decades of marriage to his former wife should not be ignored if we are going to form an opinion on one night based on a history of behavior.

The only history of domestic "issues" he has are with a woman who married a man she filed a restraining order against, eventually married, let the protective order expire, then eventually was shot by.

Outside of knowing about a restraining order, any assumption that him beating her as the reason why stands an equal shot of being true as she is just bat sh!t crazy. Those documents are sealed as of right now, so we don't know why it was filed.

Maybe he slapped her in 2012 and she ran to a judge. Maybe she kicked him in the nuts and he pushed her back. But we can reasonably assume that whatever happened in 2012 must not have been that much of a concern if she let it expire.

He and his previous wife divorced as well.....for reasons unknown...make you wonder if the ex wife just kept her mouth shut because he was her meal ticket.

There is alot of speculation as to what those reasons are, none of which points to abusive behavior but calling it unknown makes it sound like it's a mystery. It's known, just not by everyone. There is also no mention of domestic abuse in the divorce papers from his first marriage and no reason to think so from the woman who still carries his last name.

Not speculating at all. Just relaying the story that is going around. That's also why I said to take it with a grain of salt.

Having said that, the climate around the area definitely feels against her. Right or wrong, she's fighting public perception. People just see that a fairly respected doctor is dead and they want to remember him fondly, whether he was good guy or not.

Not saying this is the case here but we have a tendency to remember things in a more positive light than maybe what it was in reality.

i think the woman learned some tricks from Gone Girl. She's been planning this for awhile. The false claims of abuse is only the start.

Just a theory, but hey, it's more interesting that way...

LCIW is full of victims of a pattern of abuse, who iced their husband/boyfriend/bd. They get 20 year stretches.
Now they probably didn't get the best representation, but self defense requires fear of imminent harm.
