Whether you or I think it is a good idea or not, I would want my voice heard. Same reason I vote in every election. The petition is just the opportunity for it to go on a ballot for an actual vote of the people in the area.

We really need a St. George Board.

I don't really care about SG one way or another and haven't signed anything, but after seeing BR's reaction and the constant attacks by people like Russian I want to sign it too now.
Self-Determination apparently has to be squashed for unclear reasons. This aggravates me and makes me want SG to happen.

You won't leave. Noone with a dog in this fight will leave. Baton Rouge is a nice place to live. Better together. And you know it.

That's the irony of all this. I can seriously think of SEVERAL people who want to sign now because of his posts.
Count me in this group. I think this needs to come to a vote.

Signing the petition does not mean that you support St. George.
Correct.
I plan to vote against it. But I signed the petition so the vote could happen.

"Self-Determination" is a pretty way to say "resegregation".

The entire St George thing is like this. New money wanted all the money. Old money said no way. New money says fine we'll throw a fit and take our ball home. Old money says Hahahahaha and takes all the money new money thought they had. Now that new money lost all its money It goes away forever or moves to Livingston Parish.
NOTE; nothing about kids or schools were mentioned because it never was about kids or schools. IT'S ABOUT MONEY!!!!

"resegregation"
I didn't know this was a separate but equal thing.
I also didn't know there was a requirement of a specific race to live in the proposed area of St. George.
Perhaps you should take that segregation shite and go eat it somewhere else.

However, Councilman John Delgado said the council needs to hold future annexations to the same standard as the three businesses annexed into the city on Wednesday.
“We believe in a property owner’s right to self-determination and in this case it was Celtic Studios,” he said. “But if the Mall of Louisiana comes to us and says, ‘We want to be part of the city of Baton Rouge,’ then who are we to tell them no?”
Councilman John Delgado must be a "resegregationist" since he supports self-determination. I wonder how supportive Mr. Delgado would be if the property owners of Gardere request to be annexed by Baton Rouge? Somehow I think his commitment to self-determination would go on hiatus.

The tiger bend road inspection station has petitions on hand any time they are open M-F.
