We just had a baby and she’s sick as frick this morning. Lake Urgent Care told us she doesn’t qualify for their rapid test because their policy only allows it for 65 & over or have cancer.

When you have the state government fricking telling people to go get tested with no symptoms this pisses me off. We have a damn newborn with no immune system that we need to protect so we need to know if my wife has it or not but they refuse to test her when she has all the damn symptoms.

This entire testing criteria situation is the most fricked up thing I’ve ever seen. Yes I know babies are likely ok but it’s my baby here and we want to know.

Call the gyno/pediatrician and they might be really helpful in getting one.

Not being a dick at all here

The test doest matter here. Regardless if you wife has covid, RSV, flu, adenovirus, etc etc, Yall need to keep her away from the baby as much as possible while she is sick. Let her breast feed, and then you take over besides that

From a husband of a pediatric nurse, they arent giving any different advice regarding this for covid

Can you do anything in your life without asking the OT or do you just constantly need to tell us about your very real wife you 100% definitely had sex with?

At this point the baby is already exposed so not sure why it matters

Just get a regular test if you cant find a rapid

And have her quarantine as much as possible

I went to dutchtown urgent care (may be called dutchtown express care) Saturday and got my results on Sunday.

I called several urgent cares that said rapid tests were reserved for high risk. Call around and plead your case for sure.

Getting tested changes nothing.

Not sure what his case is

If wife is positive-she needs to stay away from the baby while sick

If wife is negative-she needs to stay away from the baby while sick

Not blaming the OP, new parenthood makes everyone shite bricks

In actuality, its better she has covid than RSV or the flu for the babies sake

ETA: If makes you feel better, wife has had multiple babies test positve. All were just "extra fussy"

Even had 10 week-old twins that were premies test positive that were fine

I understand your concern, but newborns and young children have been exposed just as much as your child and wife. If something is seriously wrong a test isn't going to do anything, call your medical provider and see what they suggest for the symptoms or go to ER if you're not getting what you think you deserve.

Local TV anchor here was out after just having a baby. Came home from hospital...another daughter brought Covid in, and entire family, newborn included got Covid.

Newborn did fine from what I know. Family was all sick, so that was the difficult part, caring for the newborn while sick.

Congrats on the baby..I completely understand your concern. They are like gold.

Yeah I get all of that. He may want to get her tested in order to know if anyone else can help with the baby (like grandparents who are more at risk)

Not trying to be funny, but Google it. When we needed a test we just did that for our area and was able to see who offered what test, plus the requirements for the rapid tests. We lied about our symptoms in order to get the rapid tests because we both needed it to return to our offices.

FYI, sore throat, achy feeling all over was the win for me to get the rapid. Wife did the same without achy feeling and ended up with the normal test and a strep test

I'm not sure what kind of test your wife needs, but I have friend who does rapid mammograms.
