Where can I park in New Orleans for Mardi Gras parades?

Inb4 it’s trashy to go to parades, New Orleans is a literal shithole, bring your bulletproof vest, etc.

How does this work, and what are typical prices? Uber will be jacked up prices too, so I’d rather just park myself. What can I expect? This is my first time.

Edited to specify the Endymion or Bacchus parades. I'm not sure which route location is best, as I said, it's my first time.

First you need to decide where you want to watch the parade.

Dude, be more specific. Which parade do you want to go see and where on the route do you want to be? It's a pretty long route so there are lots of options.

Which part of the city are you trying to watch parades?

Between St Charles and the River and Napoleon and the Convention center. Safest place, hard to get around once you park though.

Parking during Mardi Gras is my worst nightmare. I can't describe to you how much I hate it. Now I just park somewhere relatively close by but easy to park and take an Uber the shorter distance close to where I want to be. Trying to park within a mile of a parade route will make you want to take your own life.

Meh. Even if I didn't have my aunt's house around Napoleon and Magazine to park at, parking isn't bad after you've done it a few times.

It will be an absolute nightmare for a firs timer though, so your advice is pretty good.

Take ticket off someones windshield and put it on yours. Throw away when you leave parade.

Profit?

If you plan correctly and go early, it's not always horrible.
Last night I fcked up and came in from Baton Rouge from work and tried to head uptown at around 5:30. After a while when I was stuck in traffic still on Carrolton, I just turned around and left.
I have to think the weeknight parades are the worst with traffic and parking.

Especially if the group you are trying to meet are on the other side of the parade. Had that happen a few times during parades and it’s the worst. Either get ballsy and jump the barrier or walk around

Just park illegally. The $40 ticket is worth it.

I mean, I've been doing it my entire driving life. I just really hate 1) traffic and 2) looking for parking. I get frustrated easily.

So now I just don't set myself up for frustration.

Parking is half the fun of Mardi Gras.

Fair enough. It's definitely a chore. I think I might just be numb to it and don't even notice anymore

Last night I was kind of smart about it and took some back streets and actually found a spot right near Central City BBQ and walked to St Charles. But usually I just do the Uber thing.
