Roll across the river.... find a sugar cane field. Chop a couple stalks down.

We did that all the time when I was a kid. My folks would take us to go visit family out in the country and we'd stop on the side of the road and go out into the field and cut a few canes down. Taking a couple canes out of a few hundred acres of it is not even noticeable.

My concern is the owner might have an issue with the principle and not the actual sugar cane.

I don't feel like crying today.

Call a farmer and ask ahead if you must.

yup, both are technically stealing. Buying a childs ticket to a baseball game when you're an adult is stealing as well. oh well.

Fruit/vegetable stand, one on Perkins one on Hwy 415 at Lobdell, this one more likely to have it.

Drive into a cane field in Port Allen and you'll probably catch someone having sex or getting high
.

no, not really. You have a better chance of seeing someone on a four wheeler or a Mexican worker.

they probably won't be having sex tho.

no. I work with a bunch of folks who do stuff like that but frown upon me using an ice machine at a motel.

Apparently you haven't driven into one near a plant at lunch time.

as long as you don't go chop down 1/2 acre of cane, i'm pretty sure you'll be fine just grabbing a few stalks from someone's field

I’m pretty sure a farmer would get ticked if you went and loaded up your pickup truck with sugar cane
