My go-to is "I live in Benton, its just outside of Bossier. Im sure you have heard of Shreveport with the casinos? Just across the river"

It’s an interesting question. Most of the times I say “West Virginia” or “the DC metro area”. But both have negative connotations. I usually have on an LSU item of clothing so they know where my roots are.

I say Gonzales.

Usually have to point out it's just outside of BR.

When i lived in Chalmette, I just said New Orleans.

I tell em I live in a "lil burb" between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Usually go with Birmingham first, and if someone knows the area and ask which part I tell them Vestavia. Not that I get asked that often where I'm from, outside of wait staff at restaurants or the concierge at the resort.

I tell them Houston, and when they inevitably ask which part I tell them West U.
