Yes. Some convenience store near my house. I bought a pint of wild turkey. I said to the clerk it sure is nice to be able to buy liquor legally and he just rolled his eyes. Later that night as I was puking uncontrollably, I cursed him for selling it to me.

At a bar called The Brick in Milledgeville, GA where I went to school. I had been drinking there since I was 18 and the owner knew my friends and I being that it was a small town. He had an odd look on his face when he brought a tray of shots for my 21st birthday considering he had been giving me free shots for the better part of three years. I had a hell of a time and three co-workers were fired from Lowe's the next day because of no call no shows stemming from the party

I was caught in a weird time when the drinking age changed from 18 to 21, so I "became legal" twice.
I ordered my first legal drink at age 18 (senior in high school) at dinner with my boyfriend -- a Tequila Sunrise. Then a couple months later, I wasnt legal any more.
When I turned 21, I was in a bar in New Orleans--some place on the lake, I think -- with a bunch of friends. Don't remember what my first legally purchased drink would have been.
I did go to the Circle K at Highland and State one last time before we left for NOLA that night -- just to get carded and turned down one last time.

I actually do, and it's a special gas station even well known here: Chicken on a Stick.

Walked into a Circle K (circlequeer back then) near Jones Creek and bought a 6pack of Bush tallboys with MY OWN legit ID.
Blondie knew my b-day had been that Wednesday, and planned a very appropriate and appreciated gift.
At 18, it was amazing, but years later it was honestly on the low-end of the mediocre spectrum...
Not sure about 1990 but by 1992-1993. Circle K's didn't sell to 18 yr olds despite our drinking age.
Same thing went for Albertson's, Exxons and other national chains.
I did steal a lot of booze from the Circle K at Jones Creek and Ferrell before I was even 18.

Nom Nom Nom. The Chevron. I've been there 3 times in about 20 yrs. In 07 I was chompin on some chicken on a stick after the LSU victory while watching some drunk Ole Miss student talk back to a cop and get arrested in the parking lot.
Great Memories. And damned fine chicken on a stick there.

I was headed home from class and bought a 40 at the tiger mart or whatever off of Lee in between highland and the apartments before Lee high.
They were open 24 hrs too. We used to get that late shift guy to sell to us way after 2am by throwing him a $20 on top of what we wanted. It came in handy 3 times ~01-03.

The year before I turned 18 and could buy alcohol was when Louisiana up the age to 21. I was so fricking pissed.
I was also picked up for curfew( Orleans Parish had just passed this ordinance a few months before) 2 hours before my 18th birthday 3 blocks from my house after I had just walked from the French Quarter to my house by the lakefront tripping balls after a rave. Cop drove me two blocks and was sitting at the stop sign at my corner one house from my house and got a call from dispatch. He told me, "sorry I got to take this one" and took off and dropped my arse off at Orleans lockup.

we were walking from the quarter to harrahs. At midnight stopped at one of those grocery/souvenir stores on canal. Bitch couldn't understand that after 12 it was the next day and still wouldn't let me buy a beer

My 21st was on a Sunday, back when BR still had the blue laws.
I lived in Plantation Trace and walked to the gas station at Highland & Lee to buy come Crown Royal (pretty sure) as soon as it was past midnight and officially my birthday. I was pretty hammered already and went out with my family the next day extremely hungover.

I had been drinking and buying beer for a couple years before it was “legal”. At that point it wasn’t even a big deal anymore

Bought some Crown from Albertson's and wasn't even ID'd. I was disappointed.

I turned 18 in 1975 (that was drinkin' age). 1st beer was probably Time Saver in Westwego. My favorite was the Miller "ponies," the perfect size for hiding from parents, cops, etc..
NObody got carded back then.

First legal beer I bought was at a gas station overseas when I was 17 or 18. First legal in the us I can’t remember, I think at the Hustler Club
