When you see parts of last night's dream the next day

What is this called?
I don't remember specifically what I dreamt, but as I walk around the next day, I'm reminded of the dream when I speak to someone or something.
I'll see the entrance at work, and a part of the dream will come back in a flashback.
I'll see a certain person, and a person I saw in the dream will come back in a flashback.
I'll hear a particular conversation or phrase, and a conversation that happened in the dream will come back in a flashback.
What is this called? Why am I experiencing this?

It's completly normal to dream about every day things. So if you have a dream about work, you may not remember it until you get to work.

My roommates ex came in last night from Shreveport. I dreamed a little while ago her married friend came with her and I fricked her bottom out. I'm hoping this becomes reality in the next half hour.
