I have the answer to your problem. The Light Keeper Pro. You pull out a bulb, plug the socket into the LKP and pull a trigger that will close any open shunts in the light string. The lights will all come on unless there are bad sockets, meaning you can trash that set of lights. They also make one for LEDs. I have both and have saved thousands of dollars over the years. You can buy it just about anywhere.
