but USNWR rankings are what legit schools actually work about.

meh, they have always been homers for certain schools.

Wash U is a top 10, if not top5 school in the Country. It's not even debatable. They are #1 to #1c when it comes to Medical and research. If a paper about a break thru comes out, it's either wash U, Harvard, or John Hopkins.

This is the reason I ask about why kids weren't looking at higher ranked schools in the LSU scholarship thread.

Being "new" to LA I don't understand why parents here spend so much money on quality private schools HS and then their highly accomplished kids are looking at schools well outside the T100.

it's crazy that i was at LSU during it's peak era

i don't know if i'd have considered LSU as it stands

I’m sure you’ve paid more attention to it than I have, but aren’t the US News rankings based mostly on finances once you get past the top 20 reputation schools?

Always thought they were kind of bullshite.

We steal 30 million from athletics and still suck at academics. F King needs to go. It is overdue.

Do a little research and you will find out the reason we send our kids to private schools.
Unless your kids are in the magnet school program, they will not get the type of education that will allow them to compete on the level that today's elite colleges require for entry.
My kid wants to go out of state to a T100 school, and I don't blame him. But if LSU gave enough money and we had an emergency, then it would be good to be able to fall back to the local school. It would be foolish not to apply and see what they will offer.
By the way, it is not as easy as you may think to get into the college of choice these days. My son has perfect scores and is a commended national merit scholar has been accepted into engineering at one T100 school, turned down at one high end college and has been deferred for one year with guaranteed acceptance at another very high end university.
He is in contact with other friends with similar grades and scores and their stories are identical. With his scores, he was expected by his counselors to be accepted to both of the latter schools.

Doesn’t the governor appoint LSU’s president?
