When the Barbery Corsairs enslaved Icelandics in two raids on the island

Two raiding parties with the collusion of Icelandic citizens who became Muslim lead two different sailing groups to Iceland. The group from what is now Morrocco was the smaller raid and pillage. The group from Algiers took over 400 prisoners, many of whom were sold as slaves; others were ransomed.

Hate to agree with Fightn, but the leaders of the raids were Dutch converts to Islam. If you’re trying to make a point that Africans weren’t the only people enslaved, we already knew that.

Over the entire course of history there have been more white slaves than black slaves
The Middle East/North African slave trade was magnitudes greater than the North American slave trade
Not that any of this matters. Just interesting that you don’t hear about it because it doesn’t fit a narrative
