A student refused to pay for his date's meal after she ordered lobster and a $90 bottle of wine, and she wasn't happy about it

quote:

she called him "rude" and said he "must be gay."

quote:

The thread consists of the text exchange between the reddit user and his date, after the first time they met. He sent her a message asking her if she wanted to go out again, and received the response "After what you did last time you expect me to go out with you again? Wow."

Confused, the reddit user asked what he did wrong, and she responded that she had to pay for her own food and drink.

The man explained that while he only had a bowl of pasta and a beer, his date had ordered the lobster and and €80 ($90) bottle of wine, totaling €110 ($126), while his meal only cost €17.50 ($20).

"And you were expecting me to pay for that? I'm a student not your sugar daddy," he added.

And this little gem:

quote:

Then she accused him of only wanting to have sex with her, to which he replied of course he did, but realized "I might not have €20 for that."

Good for this guy

So she orders lobster and a $90 bottle of wine on the first date, talks about another man during said date, and he reaches back out to her for a second date?

I feel like we have to be missing something.

Eh. I don't know. Maybe, it depends on the class of restaurant. I would have still paid for it but, she wouldn't be getting a second date.

ETA: If she seemed that shallow throughout the date, maybe I would have stiffed her. Definitely wouldn't call her again.

If a chick just goes ahead and orders a $90 bottle of wine on her own without discussing or asking beforehand, that's a supremely trashy and shitty thing to do, I don't care how nice the restaurant is.

I mean, shite, even if I'm cool with paying for the wine, I at least would want a say in what wine is chosen.

Good show chap.

Maybe these Thots will learn that that thing between their legs is an inexhaustible resource, and they a depreciating asset. They make more every day and they give it away.
