I never would have guessed that. I played some softball at that park right there with the DA and a bunch of other lawyers and ate at the seafood place nearby other than that never really been to that part of town

As an outsider…BR seems to be a shithole.

It’s not really that bad for whitey unless you’re a lib

It’s funny when you look on the Baton Rouge reddit and they tell people to move to mid city because it’s lgbt friendly and the occasional car stolen or home break in is part of living in a city

It must be the lgbt committing crime because that stuff doesn’t happen in the areas they say are “too conservative”

It was fine into the early 90s. Once they "cleaned up" Mall City it started going down fast.

Yeah that area was mostly fine in most of the 90s even. That big arse apartment complex right there going downhill is what ruined it.

Growing up north BR was the only problem and easy to avoid. Now it is not clearly defined where you're safe and where you aren't.

Judge John V Parker started the downhill roll in 1981 then Section 8 of Blvd de Province and the properties along South Flannery Rd was the final nail in the coffin. It was an awesome place to grow up in the 70's & 80's

Blame Tommy neck for all those bad properties on south flannery.

Neighborhood showed up in force at city council but Neck sold them out.

Just curious, how far was this from the old Brunet's? That was fancy dining when I was a youngin'. We grew up down Florida Blvd almost to Denham. Bringing the fam to Brunet's was a treat. Was sad when it was torn down way back when.
