My best friend in high school had a hot tub, and we were chilling in it one night with some girls when his OT 9.7/10 mom came home tipsy from a party.
She proceeded to get into her bikini and came down to join us. My friend was pissed about it, but I couldn't get out of the hot tub until everyone had left because I was pitching the biggest tent of my life.
So that was pretty cool.

One of my HS buddies had a really hot mom. We would always rag him about it and one time we were swimming at his house and she came out in a bikini and he went ballistic screaming for her to go back inside, but she claimed she just wanted to sunbathe and for him to calm down.
She knew what she was doing.

I'd knock the bottom out of a couple of my ex's moms to this very day if they called me right now.
Hopefully the millennial generation will carry the torch of these baby boomer moms, but they'll probably be fat pill heads.

At your age it is no longer a joke for you to be interested in A hot mom (I purposely capitalized the A for emphasis on singularity). Now, if "your friend" is the one with the hot mom...well, it would depend on how old your friend is. If your friend is 18 or younger, or just significantly younger (not sure how you would come upon that friendship), and you're significantly older (implied by the latter being significantly younger of course), and the mom is around your age, okay then, not a joke.
All other instances would seem in poor taste IF serious. At least in terms of speaking out loud about it to another person. You can certainly keep those attractions inside your head without repercussions (assuming it doesn't get the better of you and force you into a position to act on it).
