Fire the main complainer and hire one of those from the stack of apps. It'll send a message that OT isnt something to bitch about. *only works in a right-to-work state where you can up and fire for any reason

How much will unemployment cost him? Doubt complaining is termination with cause.

I dont work overtime unless forced. I don't complain about having to work it though. I'm just in a position to be able to pay my Bills and fund my retirement without it. I prefer to spend my time with my family.
We also have several guys who live paycheck to paycheck and need 3 days ot to cover.. you need a mix of both kinds of people.

I worked a job where, when OT was needed, it was offered to employees based on seniority. "I need three whatchacallit operators for 4 more hours today."

Some of the older guys were worn out and already made good money, so they always turned it down. Others, especially new guys, were desperate for a buck and happily took every bit of OT they could.

Everyone was happy in the end. Not every workplace has enough employees for such a system, but it worked well there.

You can't be fired for turning down overtime so as an employer, you may not want to say that...

Is overtime when you actually have to work after lunch? Because I have to do that sometimes too, and it sucks.

When I was younger and making shite pay I loved OT, or thought it did.

Now I'm older and I realize that usually companies that end up working their employees on OT generally are trying to cheapskates that system and not hire enough people to properly get the work load done.

I don't work overtime anymore. My time off is more valuable to me than the stress of trying to meet unrealistic deadlines set my middle managers that try to make a name for themselves by cutting cost to make it look like they know how to efficiently run a business.

Where I work, we joke that a 40 hour work week is a part time job.

Wouldn’t they be happy to have an opportunity to get time and a half? More money in their pocket right?

I'm sure it's hard for some to fathom, but some people rather spend that time with their family, on vacation, or hunting/ fishing, etc.

You missed my point. I meant working 50 hour work week vs working a 40 hr work week is nothing to bitch, moan, and complain about.

How often is this happening? If it is every week, it can really wear you down, especially if you have a family.

You’re in charge and you need to ask advice here? You don’t need to be in charge.
