your Google skills are adorable.. And I work for one of the largest independents in the US so I've got a wee bit of insight on what's driving cost... But please continue on with your peacocking and thesaurus mastery..

The state handed out $75,000,000. That is a drop in the bucket considering Louisiana alone has about $2,100,000,000 in premium for homeowners. $75M didn’t go very far. The companies that got it were already writing and it might have allowed them to write 1,500 more policies between the lot of them. Louisiana is a shite hole insurance state for a long list of reasons.

Any of y’all self insure? Really thinking long and hard about this, we only have another 6yrs on our mortgage so paying it off wouldn’t be terribly difficult. After that, I imagine getting a fire only policy with liability, and since we’re in x zone keeping flood.

The best was when they told us the Summer of COVID tort reform would reduce auto insurance rates. We all found out that was a lie.

I was shopping for ho insurance today .. Safe sure and Cajun had decent rates for ho3 compared to split fire/theft and wind/hail with FB/La Citizens

Agent quoting Safe (A rated) sure explained this to me .. need to inquire from other agent about Cajun and if they’re an admitted, rated carrier.

definitely thinking about it. Our la citizens premium went from 3270 to 7500. They did increase our dwelling coverage by 100,000. We’re working with agent to quote 80%, reduce/drop contents, etc

Also getting quotes from two others .. so far they’re about 2500/3000 less iirc.

Anyone comfortable with Cajun or Safe sure?

The tort reform was so watered down by the trial lawyer Governor that it had no chance to make an impact. (Also, factor in record inflation…)

Cajun stopped writing in some Parishes already and will revisit at end of year.
Guess if no hurricane this year, they banked huge then may start taking on new risks again.
The insurance industry has systematically collapsed and the POS politician that led the way is retiring. So let’s make sure we elect another moron ( preferably someone already a leader of that corrupt agency) to finally run us all out of the state.

Our federal and state governments are taking over the insurance market so expect to be screwed by excess costs and met with incompetence.

I also got a quote in Vermilion this week. Elevate for home and Neptune for flood. Anyone ever deal with these two companies?

Never heard of neither. Our flood is Through fema but purchase through farm bureau agent.

What agency are you working with?

Neptune is private flood, not backed by NFIP at least here in FL. I would be very weary of companies like Elevate. Look up their financial solvency.
