commissions
it is called feast or famine for a reason. It is certainly a roller coaster.
I'm in a much more stable commission environment right now. Steady climb each year.
+/- about 10% year over year.
The last 4 years have plateaud somewhat. I bring in today what I brought in 2006. So long as AI doesn't take my job, I can do this for 15-20 more and retire comfortably.

27. Have made decent gains since then (33 this year). Wife makes about 40% more though, so we have no complaints

I’m not typical OT where 95% have been making over 100K since their 20s. I’m 63 and only recently went over the 100K mark combining my current salary and retirement income.

I call bullshite on your claim.
Call it all you want...but its true. And last year isn't this year. We've had two plus years of high inflation and a booming oil industry. Industry wide brain drain and people retiring early because of covid BS has left a shortage.
A large % of graduating engineers want to be in green/renewable fields. Those interested in dirty/nasty/evil crude oil and willing to get their hands dirty (ie not work in an office) can make very good $ right now. A willingness to not be in Houston is a big leg up as well.
