When and if you pray....

Do you think it actually works? I've prayed for quite some time, but everything I seem to pray about never gets answered in any normal sense.
Given that this is the case, how do you reconcile JESUS claiming that if you ask for bread is your father in Heaven going to give you stones?
Am I just wasting my time praying and actually expecting a supposedly omnipotent God who's also omnipresent who, according to scripture, is capable of doing anything to answer prayer in a normal way?
I ask for bread. I get poisoned bread it seems like.

He gives you the ability to bake your own bread or steal it if you must.

When you ask questions to the OT do you think it actually works?

Jesus took my wheel a long time ago.

The Lord works in mysterious ways. And normally things do not work out how we plan them. Example, he wont give you bread if you ask for bread, rather he is more likely to give you the ingredients for bread.

He took your wheel. What a thief.

Guaranteed 100% not to work if you don't pray.

Comments like that are probably why you get ignored.

Scripture says which of you if you had a son and he asked for bread would give him stones.
I'm not expecting miracles. I'm expecting a reasonable answer to simple prayers. Instead, he loses me on the mysterious answers. Why the frick would God answer prayers in a mysterious way? Stupid. Why pray to begin with? I hate the mysterious answers

What are you currently praying for that hasn't been delivered as you asked? Have you asked others to pray for this thing as well?

So God's a "squeaky wheel gets the grease" kinda guy?

Sounds like you may have a glutton allergy.

Praying works. You just need to be saying the right prayers. I prayed for patience for years, and didn't realize that God was giving me MULTIPLE opportunities to learn patience. Also, you may be looking in the wrong place for his answers which sometimes is NO.

Sometimes your faith is tested. If you are questioning it, I would talk to a priest or whoever leads your congregation. If that isn't an option I'd look for someone that could help you restore it. God is real and don't give up on him. Personally, I don't understand how people live without believing in some kind of higher power.

You get what you need not what you want.

Beats me Green Chili. I talk to him often and when things go south, I guess the more people asking for help for me surely couldn't hurt.

you complain about them being myserious but you are asking from The One who flung the cosmos into existence...maybe you are feeble minded in thinking that the Creator of the universe will answer you exactly how you want it...I don't think it works that way...His eye is on the sparrow...He will take care of your needs...if you have faith that He will...but He doesn't have to answer your prayers just as you want them answered...AND His unanswered prayers may be to your best benefit...since He is omniscient...His wisdom is greater than yours..or He wouldn't be God

1. You have to believe your prayer will be answered (harder than it seems)
2. What you ask for May affect the outcome
(For example, I've prayed for justice 2x I've been burgalarized, and both times, justice was served/) asking for wisdom and the like are good starting points.
3. Oftentimes we think we know what is best for us, when it's not. Praying for His Will to be done supercedes almost all else.
Just a few that came to me

All prayers are answered. Sometimes the answer is no.
Problems aren't going to get solved by mere prayer. However, prayer, collective prayer particularly, can often summon strength that an individual or group did not have before.
