re: when / why did women start thinking men want a "strong, independent, career driven" woman?

That's how we look at it.

The better question is why did women stop caring about what men want? Contrary to women of 50's, 60's and 70's, a "strong, independent, career driven" woman could care less what any man thinks her role should be in society.

It certainly can't be argued that women entering the work force en masse lead to lower wages.
When women entered the workforce en masse wages were actually climbing at the quickest rates in history. The stagnant wage growth that we've been experiencing since the 80s or so has no more to do with women as it does men.

It’s impossible because wages have lowered do to a doubling of the amount of employees. Not to mention politicians bringing in more potential employees (immigrants) which lowered them even more

I’m gonna find a nice lady doctor that’s like this close to discovering the cure for aids or that helps sick poor people or something and I’m gonna make her retire to raise kids

I'm totally down with a "strong, independent, career driven" woman. We won't have kids, we'll make millions of dollars and travel around the world on our private jet, looking down on the poor guys about to get divorced with kids who will grow up to have a career behind a cash register.

Exactly! That's why instead of buying food I make my wife forage through the woods all day searching for nuts and berries.

It's simple supply and demand my man. If there are 50 potential employees an employer can offer $X an hour and find a person to take the job. If there are 5 employees available (we're of course talking about qualified for the job they are seeking) then the employer will likely have to offer $X * 10 to hire a qualified candidate. This is why, for example. NFL quarterbacks are higher paid than offensive lineman.
It's the same reason illegal immigration drives down wages.

It’s gotta be kind of tough to be a career woman in the us. You spend all this time in your 20’s getting degrees and trying to advance your career, then you have babies and have to take off of work for a while, then try to juggle raising your child while also working on your career.

I want a strong, career driven woman who is otherwise dependent on me. That way, I get to stay home and watch TV.

LOL THere is in fact a small subset of women who are higher ups in their chosen profession who enjoy being totally dominated in their personal lives.

Welfare. Why would a women care for a man when she can live off the government? The government is the new father.
It’s also somewhat of a social change, because men before and after the 60s seem to be pretty different.
Men born after the 60s generally don’t care if their women works, because they need the extra shekels so they can drive their new car, have a big fancy house, etc.

Right. Women entered the workforce 40 or so years ago and shifted the supply curve left. The demand curve has since adjusted back to equilibrium raising the number of jobs, gdp, consumption, etc, etc. Then in the last 20-30 years we've seen an exponential increase in automation, globalization, and migrant workers. So, like I said, wage stagnation we are experiencing now has just to much to do with men as it does women as the supply and demand curves have already shifted horizontally to incorporate women.

Terrible example as it's not capitalistic and there can't bust be expansion at will so it artificially raises wages.

Not necessarily, especially in real wages, if there is a labor shortage
