appropriate mechanism to fix it will never be agreed upon, and two, the population, which ultimately votes, would never have the stomach to successfully address the issues.

People would lose their minds.

It's easy to enforce drug rehab on the homeless.

Wait until it's a pill popping white female with a family.

Where do you draw the line? I'm all for it, but people don't have the stomach for it.

Bring back the poor farm or its modern equivalent. Nobody goes without shelter and food, but they have to do their part and work to support the farm.

NYC's Mayor Koch actually suggested it decades ago, but was ravaged by his own party to suggest it.

Exactly.

It isn’t a politically feasible topic to address because our current system is thoroughly broken.

You cannot fix it because no one would be willing to stomach the methods required.

Yet, it would cure a lot of our currently "intractable" problems with its Victorian style solution.

I feel a major problem of the homeless is mental illness. Far more than just drugs or laziness. We don’t do a good job of helping the mentally ill.

Well there is no sure fire solution but maybe if we kept the money sent overseas in this country to help our own people things could change.

Speaking of, how much money could we have put into the homeless population as opposed to the money we threw down a well in ukraine?

Sure, but no one would be willing to undertake what needs to be done.

There is not a politician or American citizen who would support what needed to be done.

How much money have we thrown at it already and it’s only getting worse.

You could give every dime we spent on Ukraine to fight homelessness and we would be in no better of a situation.

It’s not like we haven’t invested tens of billions in both, which, not so ironically, has probably also been laundered from both.
