Good job perpetuating the negative stereotype

They'd probably be pretty surprised if they knew just how many people have tattoos that they don't know about.

Tattoos are very common nowadays. I know lots of people of varying levels of success who have tattoos. It isn't just crazy bikers and hippies anymore. I know several church going family types who have tattoos.

I don't have anything against them in a general sense. Some can be stupid. I never got any because I'm not a very flashy or expressive person in that way.

anything above the neck brings their character into question. They could be covered from collarbone to toe and I wouldn't care one bit. It's when it gets on the neck/face that makes me question them. Even then, it's just an expression of theirselves, but I would be hard pressed to trust them.

Please tell me if this is a true statement, in general: Tattoos are popular among the uneducated lower class.

In Louisiana, yes.

In Austin? San Diego? Portland? Not really.

People who get tattoos all over their body suffer from low self esteem and usually are seeking affirmation from a sub culture that they feel unable, for some reason , to attain in the main stream.

. My sister-in-law has a half sleeve that cost like $400-500.

A half sleeve for that? It must be a shitty tattoo. Mine cost 3 times that, but it's also very detailed and I went to one of the best artist in this region.

I have a thigh tattoo. Trashy AF, and I don't care. It's pretty.

Yet the musicians, artists, and other entertainers you love are probably covered with them.

If there was an example of small-minded trash, it would be those who worry about what others do with their bodies.

I'm not going to say I don't think anything because I generally take in many details about other people. I do think its a rather odd way to go about expressing yourself considering all the other ways one might do such a thing. I also think of the reason tattoos were originally common, which was because of the military, and helping to identify people, or certain platoons etc.. From there it has seem to become a perversion for those who instead of trying to be creative with things that can help or directly effect people, that find creativity in something that effects very little.

I don't care what other adults do with their body. But here are my questions/observations:

1.Tattoos went mainstream in the early-mid 90's. That is basically now a full generation ago. When do we get to cycle back to them not being cool anymore?

2.I have never seen a tattoo on anyone, anywhere from any walk of life that I thought looked good.

3.What is the theoretical purpose of having a tattoo where you (the tattooed) cannot see it?

4.I do think it's cool when people in a shared experience get a collective tattoo (like the cast of LOTR who were sequestered together in New Zealand for over a year.)

That's an awfully broad brush you're using there my man.

However broad his generalization may be there is still a lot of truth in that sentiment

It shows an immaturity IMO and a "look at me, I'm cool" attitude which is just the opposite of what most people think about them.
