In 1980, I got a bottle of The Antiquary Scotch. The liquid has long gone even though I have never opened it. Even the tax seal is still intact but the bottle is empty.

I only keep it because the bottle is really cool.

Think somebody brought it over. Have no use for it.

There are plenty of good uses for that, especially with summer approaching.

A bottle of Taaka vodka. Worst booze I ever had, smelled like rubbing alcohol.

Meyers punch is pretty good while sitting next to the pool or on the beach

A bottle of Southern Comfort. Don't know where it came from, but that shite's sweet and nasty.
A bottle of 10 year old Laphroaig scotch. It's so damned smoky it's like drinking a bottle of Liquid Smoke. I can't water it down enough to make it palatable.

For me that bottle is Traders Joes single malt Irish whiskey

Sounds perfect for Irish Coffee. You could knock that bottle out in no time.

Ouzo.

Bought it for a Greek meatballs recipe, which is pretty good, but the recipe uses only a shot or so per batch. Had it forever. Would never drink it; tastes like licorice.

Got a bottle of Dom Perignon in 2002 (can't even remember why anymore). Been saving it for a "special occasion".

Nothing celebratory has happened in my pathetic life since.

Grappa is pretty bad too.
Retsina wine (think pine resin) is aged in pine barrels and tastes like turpentine.

speaking from experience...you need to either store it laying down or at least turn it over once a month or so in order to wet the cork.

Unlike wine, you don't store whiskey on its side. The higher alcohol content will eat away at the cork tainting (yes, I said taint) the whiskey. I do agree, however, that it is a good idea to turn it upside down every now and then. Older Wild Turkey corks are notorious for drying out and breaking.

I have a bottle of cheap amaretto that I think is from college. I graduated in 2004. Back then my wife was trying different things and liked an amaretto sour. I also have a bottle of blue curaçao that's at least 10 years old. Every now and then she will get on a vodka kick so I'll buy some cheap vodka and it will last for months until I somehow run out of bourbon and go to fix a drink and that's all I have. So I finish it off and the process repeats itself in a few months.

And please don't put whiskey in the freezer. I'm not sure why but my mother in law and her new husband store all their liquor in the freezer. That is fine with vodka but every time I go over and he offers me a drink he pulls the bourbon from the freezer. I just let him make a mixed drink with it. And it is good stuff too. Would be perfect served neat or maybe with an ice cube or two. I mentioned it a couple of times then I quit trying.

A bottle of "pie hole whiskey". It's sweet and disgusting, got it in a secret Santa thing 2 years ago and still no plans to take another sip of it
