Cornhole?
That’s your answer to a fulfilling and rewarding life?
This has to be a joke.
It is for him. Find your own. Hopefully, it's as cheap as his.

Right
I found a ton of joy in racquetball for a while
Back to indoor soccer now
You can’t just work and sleep, you’ll die a long time before you’re dead

I'm 69 so past mid life. But I joined a gym and took up pickleball. I've met so many new friends playing pickleball and keep in shape to play by attending the gym. Also don't let the small stuff bother you; road rage, the incompetent fast food employee, etc. Drop the negative friends and don't try to live to please others. Do road trips and get off the interstate. Be curious.

My last boss got obsessed with aviation, got his pilots license, built a plane, and got way deep into pilot culture.
Then he crashed his plane and died, and everyone just said “at least he died doing what he loved”

Keep the old man from creeping up on you. For me that means, BJJ, biking, running and lifting. Also find 1 or 2 random or normal races to train for. Like for instance, today I just finished my first ever adventure race. Took 4.5 hours of running, biking and canoeing.

Good question. For me, I''ve had the same many friends for most of my life, and I love them to death. I found that just finding a new hobby or social activity opened the door to many new friendships that have led to other hobbies and learning new skills from my new found friends.

Try to savor each day, not worry about the past and not worry about the future.
Unfortunately, I don't do that.

I’m 45. Love God and trust in him, enjoy your family and your friends. Start to enjoy the fruits of your work life, kids becoming young adults, and travel. Workout by lifting heavy weight early in the morning, expand your mind by learning new skills, and relax on the weekends by the smoker while a brisket or steak is cooking with some good tunes. Mow your grass and walk barefoot in it after. Hunt during the deer and duck seasons as much as possible on land you own that is close enough that you can come home and not be gone from your family on the weekends.
Don’t stress and don’t let others stress you out.

My youngest just turned 18 and I'm inching closer to 50. It seems like life goes one of two ways. Your marriage gets better and you start adding things that you weren't able to afford in your 20s OR you are divorced/miserable and at a point in your life where you need to figure out how you want to live the back 9 in your life.
I'm in the first category. No mortgage payment, we have excess household income, and we have more date nights/overnight trips than we've ever had. The biggest thing we come close to arguing about is our dogs. Now in my 30s we argued a ton. Hell, we had some nuclear blowups in our first 3 years of marriage.
We've been married for longer than both of our parents combined. So I see both sides. The one thing that is universal is spend as much time as possible with your kids. I look at pictures and wish I could have more time with them at those stages. If you've got the means, travel and spend the money on things you like. If I was single I'd be traveling quite a bit. Luckily my wife enjoys going to new stadiums for football games (1/yr)... I would be going to 6-8/yr if it was up to me alone.
Solid
Turn down the overtime. Go to your kid's ball game instead.
