Since I’m down to only 2 kids left in the house now it’s around 10-12k for 7-9 days

We probably average 7-8k per trip and do 2-3 a year. In the last 12 months we’ve done:
Virgin Islands catamaran for 7 nights
Vegas, Zion, Bryce
Long Beach weekend destin (2)
Camping in Arkansas (3)

Varies, a week at the beach is the cheapest, no additional cost for lodging. That’s probably $3k-ish.

A week domestically (something like to NYC, Chicago, National Parks, etc.) or in the Caribbean/Costa Rica, etc. probably $8k - $12k

A couple weeks in Europe, $20k ish

These costs will all increase with our present inflation.

These costs are for two people. We don’t family vacation anymore other than some Beach weeks. Too many varied schedules on their parts.

Vacation budgets are directly tied to income.
Not just income but I'd argue as equally important....spending.

I have no desire be house or car broke. Just doesnt make sense to spend my money on things and possessions. I'd rather spend it on travel and experiences.

Young couples with $100,000 in vehicles in the driveway spending a week on 30A wondering how people can afford international travel is entirely too common.

All depends. This summer we’re going to Tennessee. I’m in for 5k for the house already. Probably another 2-3k while we’re there.

Last may went to Disney. That was 16k but that was a big arse room at the grand Floridian for 6 days then a 3 day beach trip on the way home for 2 adults and 4 of the 5 kids I have.

Take whatever trip you planned Within the last 2 years and add 20-30% to it.

That $5k beach trip to OBA or 30A last year is going to cost you $6k-$6500 easy. I live less than a hour from OBA and the rental prices are shocking to me. As a long term resident I have seen 5-10% rare increases YOY for the last 5 years. It’s absurd now compared to say 2016 prices.

Hell, even a Disney trip for the family costs me $3,100
So you drive 13 hours, stay at a LA Quinta Inn and do a 3 day Disney trip and bring sandwiches and waters for lunch and dinner.

Whatever works!

You have to drive or fly, neither are relaxing.

If you want to relax, seems staying home would be best.

Also, I assume you have no kids then, because you ain't relaxing much if you're taking your kids on vacation.

I’m taking the family in October. The total is $3,100 before food (since they no longer do meal plans), so probably closer to $3,600-$3,800 when it’s all said and done. We’re driving so no flight cost. Still nowhere near $5k.

You must either be staying at one of the All Stars or an Airbnb. Just our hotel costs at Port Orleans and park passes were 5k for 7 nights. With food and souvenirs for a family of 4, probably looking at 10k altogether and we're not even staying at a deluxe resort.

The total before food, gas and buying little things for your kids at Disney is $3100...you'll easily get to $4k and closer to $5k then.

Family of 5 and flights and week at Disney with food will probably be 8k likely little more. Beach with staying in nice condo for a week is 5k maybe little more depending on condo. Condo prices have sky rocketed in last couple years. All inclusive Punta Cana for 7 nights last year cost just wife and I under 3k recently.

We go on two vacations basically. One year we will go to the lake house on copper harbor and the next we will pick a random sandals resort and go there. So one year we go cheap and the next is much more expensive.

Back in March, we went to Disney - it was expensive but oh well

We went to Gulf Shores a few months before that - it was like $1000-$1500 including everything (meals, gas, condo) but it was the off season and we cooked some of our meals and it was only a few days
