I don’t know how you stay under 5k unless you are just driving to Gulfshores type trips. I just priced out flights to Omaha for the CWS and it cost $1500 dollars round trip for 2 people just to get there and back.

Last minute air travel tends to be expensive

Too many factors because every vacation is different. Our budget is not by vacation but by year. One vacation might cost us $2500, two may cost $4,000 each, one may cost $5,000 and the other may cost us $7500 one year. The next we may take one less and spend $10k on one trip. The next, we may spend between $3k-$4k on each trip.

This.

Hell, I am looking at two little trips now and they will be 5k-7k each by the time all is said and done and we are talking four night deals. One is 2600 for airfare, 1600 for lodging and you know you will burn thru 3-500 a day depending on what you go do, so that is 6200 without anything weird popping up.

10k on summer trip. A bit more on a Vail trip. And we usually drive. It is a bit nuts how much even a trip to the beach costs these days.

Family vacation for me is usually the wife, two kids, and oftentimes MIL. We usually rotate between beach one year, cruise the next. Trip to the beach, usually for everything its between $3-$5K. Family cruise usually runs between $8-$10K.

You pay $10k to stay in a dorm room, eat buffets, and watch some shitty no name comedian? You're dumber than I thought

We were going to skip the family beach trip but just learned that if you’re willing and able to wait last minute, you can find some good deals. A $325/night place near Laguna Beach, FL was priced down to $185/night for the 23rd-27th. My wife and I being teachers makes this an option for us, but it’s nice to get a four night trip in for $1000.

Darth, I humbly implore you compare the square footage of your cruise cabin with Mingo's studio apartment

I’d wager the aft balcony suite on my cruise is far nicer than his mom’s basement.

I just returned from a solo Manhattan vacation. Spent right at $2100 for 5 nights, round trip airfare to JFK, 3 meals a day, and the cost of visiting some of the tourist sites.

I stand corrected.

I’ll bet my aft balcony suite is nicer than the back bedroom in his mom’s single-wide.
