What's your advice for finding apartments in NOLA or BR?

How do you avoid places that are rat or bed bug infested? What advice would you give someone moving to the area? I'm currently working on going to graduate school at LSU next fall.

Go through a real estate agent—contact Talbot, Latter & Blum, McEnery to name a few that will lead you into the right direction.

900-1500 per month for rent
100 on food
150 for cell phone
TV - NA
Car - 150
Health insurance -75

Living in Boston has become too expensive.

So you want to live in BR. I don’t know anything about BR real estate but they have a ton of apartments around campus if that helps.

And I’m sure you can find something in your price range

Most of the brand new complexes around town fit your budget. There are a few high rises downtown that are really nice.

I live off corporate next to town center.

Nice area. Pretty central to everything.

Walking distance to restaurants, bars and a grocery store.

ETA: this is in Baton Rouge

My wife and I lived in Sterling Burbank when we went to LSU and it was satisfactory. We could just walk to campus.

You want to live in New Orleans and go to LSU in BR? That's a bad idea. You're gonna regret that decision after a week

If you're going to graduate school at LSU's campus in Baton Rouge, looking for places in New Orleans should not even be an option. The commute itself is not worth it. Factor in traffic from the roadwork between those two places right now makes it even worse.

You can find places in BR on your budget. If possible, shop around and take tours of multiple different places.
