When I was in Asia the women wore that shite all the time along with long sleeves and hoods and they told me it was because they didn’t want to get dark skin like the peasants.

Are you new to Asian people? They frequently wear masks in public places. Younger people even have designer masks.

Around Christmas, I was in Best Buy and there was an Asian with a medical mask. I'm not sure it's a coronavirus thing, they may just be weird.

When I see someone wearing a surgical type mask in the N.O. area, I'd say the overwhelming majority of time, he/she is Asian.
I hardly ever see any other ethnic group wearing them.
