Can't say I was poor, but lived like it for a few months to save up to travel abroad. I ate a TON of rice and eggs.

Not counting college, it might be right now if I don't count retirement savings or equity in my home.
We just had our first baby, my wife took a major cut in hours to stay at home with the kid, and I just graduated with my MBA and about 20k in student loan debt.
Our checking account is literally paycheck to paycheck at the moment. Our credit cards have super high limits, but we're trying hard to not mount up debt (we have mild CC debt around $5k but that is getting paid off and not added to).
I have a ton in my 401k and Roth IRA and I continue contribute monthly, as well as my child's new college fund.
But damn, my joint checking account is U-G-L-Y.
