I'm approaching 28, and I know why people get married tax breaks aside. It helps with career advancement. Executives need to look like they have their shite together outside of the office. Wife and kids helps build that image. If you're 40 something and not married, ppl will start wondering. I don't know what my excuse will be. I don't trust women. They have no concept of relationship equity based on what you've sacrificed for them. They have a "what have you done for me lately" mentality.

Marrige has devolved into basically a financial agreement...but I would say that it is more valuable in that it is a round about attempt to keep some other dude from hammering your girlfriend's vagina when you are away.

Implied conjugal consent when she's passed out and you want some arse.

I don't have to go hunting for sex every now and then, so there's that.

Well, if we’re using statistics, that is a correct statement.

Also, if you avoid getting married in your teens and even wait until after college, the success rate of marriages goes up dramatically.

Or guys stop trying and think she should be good to go simply because her pants are off. So she stops putting in the effort because she’s not getting much out of it.

Ok, we’ll use your logic. Why should guys have to “try”. Why don’t women just want it? How hard do you have to try with your SO? Don’t tell me you can’t just give him a look and his pants are off and he is at full staff within 30 seconds.

You serious? Think you have it backwards. Men enter marriages thinking their girls will stay the same as before marriage (bjs, letting them do what they want). Women enter marriages thinking they can change their boys (onlybstay at home, won’t like sports, will never want sex). Recipe for disaster and a lot of psych bills for the kids!

Honestly, my wife is more of a horn ball than me. If she "tries" I'll go through with it even if I don't feel like it because if she's horny I need to be the one that's taking care of that.

She's always been the same way with me. She will absolutely take care of me even if she's "tired".

It goes both ways in our relationship.

That’s how it is in mine, as well. We both had spouses who didn’t put in equal effort/value the importance of sex life, and we’ve both vowed not to have that with each other. People are being intentionally obtuse when they try to pretend their partners don’t or shouldn’t have different turn ons and needs. I’m not singling out one gender over the other. Both people in a marriage need to be aware of his/her partner’s needs. Nothing kills the spark faster than feeling unwanted.

Pretty rarely are you both completely horny at the same time after years and years together. We did Friday night when had no kids and Uber'd out to have margaritas and dinner. Otherwise it's normally one person initiating it. Getting shut down over and over would be pretty upsetting TBH.

You’re right about keeping a spark.

I just think guys for the most part stop trying at some point they’ve been rejected so much that they don’t even know what to do.

These stereotypes exist for a reason.

I’m luckier than most from what I’ve heard. We’re going on 23 years, empty nesters for the last 3. (Youngest went to LSMSA)

We’ve still got the spark. However, there have been some dry spells that certainly didn’t occur to my lack of trying.

I totally get that. The stereotype of wives getting plowed by a Jody exists for a reason, too. It sucks, all around, when one or the other stops trying and doesn’t value his/her spouse’s needs over an extended period of time.

I think most people are monogamous by nature unless they are married to someone that just completely can't satisfy them sexually.

I wouldn't cheat on my wife but never getting a bj would be a problem for me. I'll reciprocate where necessary. I'm only 40 and not willing to give some things up yet

Yeah. I’d been enjoying the b-hole for years and then a couple of years ago I get the “it hurts now”

It hurt alright. Not something I was prepared to go without the rest of my life.
