re: What's the longest you've gone w/o seeing your child?

Two of the Little Füts did post-graduate work overseas.

So then for each of them, maybe three months as I’d make an excuse to be near them there and go check on them.

Months and months. Mine is in the military.

2 deployments, 9 months each. 2.5 months another time.
Have 3 kids, missed each first birthday because of the military. But once I'm home, I cherish the time with the kids and family.

When my oldest were younger, my ex lived in upstat NY for a while, they would go there for the summer, about 8 or 9 weeks.

When my oldest got married, her now ex-husband was stationed at Fort Carson so she and my older son moved to Colorado Springs for a couple of years, I think it was right at a year that I didn't see them or my oldest grandson.

With my two younger kids I think maybe 5 weeks at most for my daughter when she was in DC with the Washington Ballet 2 summers ago. I've worked 14/14 for the last 5 years so that was the longest prior to that 5 week stint.

Went overseas for 8-9 days couple years ago.

FaceTime is awesome though.

Deployed.
7 months in Iraq, home for 2 weeks, then gone another 5 months when OIF deployments were 12 months boots on ground.

9 months in Afghanistan, but at least had Skype then.
