Well our drill Sargent was injured during our training, we finished up and got sent to a guard a secret vehicle in Italy. Things got a little hairy when me and my buddy decided to take it to visit our MP girlfriends in Germany. Everything worked out ok...

We heard all about Sand Hill and how it was like a vacation resort compared to the shite hole we were in. I would have given half my paycheck to have had air conditioning in the barracks or any where else on Harmony Church for that matter. I was there in the summer.

Not going to lie, the newer barracks were much better than what was in Harmony Church. I was there in summer of 1981 (just after graduating HS).

was getting ready to go fly jets and be a huge man whore, then all of the team oriented training kicked in and my conscious got the better of me and I remembered this girl that I banged all through training that I pretty much shite on, went to this paper mill where she worked, scooped her up in my arms and we lived happily ever after, that is until I caught her screwing some old enlisted puke that made extra dough by shining candidates shoes and uniform hardware

Uh, say what!!
You must be joking

I went straight through combat engineer training. Same DI, same people, and same gomer pile metal building.

After I graduated AIT I did have a week of downtime. Then I went to my unit who just left to go to Germany. I had to process into my new unit, take another butt load of shots, get my TA 50 gear, and fly on a military plane to Germany. Got off the plane and within one day of being in Germany they asked for volunteers and I raised my hand. I got transferred to a unit in South Korea.

I guess the three things I learned in the army.
1. Never volunteer always be in the middle crowd. Act like you want to volunteer but someone beat you to it.

2. Never mess with a girl that the Ford escort goes up a few inches when she gets out of the vehicle.

3. Do not get married at a young age. Way to many young girls to meet except for the ones that get out of Ford Escort that looks like a low rider until the girl gets out of the vehicle and it goes up a few inches.

This is one thing the military needs to cut out. It's very expensive to move families all over the country/world every few years. The DOD spends way too much money accommodating dependents. There used to be an old adage that if the military wanted you to have a family they would issue you one.

Surprised how many people went home after boot camp...we about 9 hours to spend with our families ..reported back that night and in the morning loaded up on bus to go to airport to fly to AIT. By week 3 of ait we had saturdays off and could leave base but it was anothe 13 weeks of training before we got our orders and grad. Ait. Then took our leave to go home and pack to move.

Yea we had day passes on Friday and Saturday and I got an extra for Sunday b/c of PT scores.

That Monday I was off to selection course
