Skylab falling to Earth - I had just turned 9.

Elvis’ death was really the 1st but paid attention to it only because my Mom was a big fan and saw his show in LA earlier that year.

yes. I remember kids playing this on the playground in kindergarten. One of the pieces of playground equipment was cylindrical and it was the "well." Kids would take turns being stuck in it and getting "rescued" by other kids.

The big California earthquake in the late 1980s. Or maybe early 90s, something like that. The one where the interstate collapsed.

Yeah, during the world series in the Bay Area. 1989. Was watching pre-game and everything started shaking, announcers flipping out. Then the videos of the aftermath started coming in.

Fall of '89. took place during the World Series while the Dodgers and the A's were live on TV.

It was a "subway series," between the Oakland A's and San Francisco Giants.

Random I know

It was a pretty big deal, actually. Came out of the Pepsi v. Coke taste tests where Pepsi won because it was sweeter.

This makes me feel better. This would also be my first breaking news event. I remember it like yesterday. I was in the 3rd grade and my teacher broke the news while crying.
