I'm sorry you are angry about this, maybe a cookie will make it better? A beer? A Gatorade?

In 2016 (last year) a 4:15 1600 meters would have ranked you 172nd in the US.

Curious how many get scholarships vs how many get scholarships in other sports. A lot of football players do track and field on high school

I find it interesting how many people have better mile times than I had but slower 5 and 10Ks.

I'm not actually that stunned because when I was running a lot, people would often remark at how well I held pace.

I used to respond by bitching about how despite that, I couldn't seem to get over the hump and speed up my mile time.

It was almost like it was a mental thing. Speed work, sprints, everything. Pfft.

Are you looking at this years rankings? Remember the season has a long way to go still this year. I'm looking at the 2016 rankings and a 4:22 would put you at 1000th. Not sure a 4:34 would get you in the top 2000.

LOL.

When I was running my best times, there wasn't an app for that.

Was looking at the ones you posted, I know CC is done here in Louisiana as we only have 12 days of school left. Not sure about other states

It's not a lot. A fully funded men's college team only gets 12.6 scholarships, and there aren't a lot of fully funded teams. Even some schools in P5 conferences don't fund all 12.6 scholarships. Now, consider that there are 21 events in an NCAA track meet. It's really difficult to field a well-rounded squad. Most schools focus on one or two event groups where the athletes can compete in multiple events. For example, Jarrion Lawson at Arkansas last year scored in the long jump, 100, 200, and ran a leg on the 4x100 relay at the national championship. Sprinters and jumpers who can do more than one event are a lot more valuable than a guy who runs the 5k or 10k and is spent for the rest of the meet.

The football guys who run track are all on football scholarships, e.g. Donte Jackson. Cyril Grayson, who recently signed with the Seahawks, is a good example of this. He was on track scholarship at LSU and wanted to play football; however, NCAA rules prohibit athletes on scholarships for other sports from playing football in their first two years.

Men's Div 1 track gets 12.6 schollys per year and no cross country schollys. Thats why I said hardly anyone gets a full ride.

Women get 18 schollys.

Well yeah outside of football and basketball no sport gets a full ride anymore. Baseball even only gives partial scholarships now
