Wrong. You have to know someone in the Krewe.

Since I am a past King of Endymion I'll go with Endymion!

So is Bacchus? We're always out there early to catch the earlier parades and then just post up and keep the party going during the break between Thoth and Bacchus.

as an Endymion rider, I'll natrually say Endymion...

but I will add that I think that Endymion is trying new things out annually...

when I watch Bacchus, I feel like I'm watching a parade that is somewhat stuck in time...I will say that their individual member costumes are better than Endymion, but Endymion has better floats...

Some would think this is a plus. Including myself. Yes innovation is good and certainly appreciated but I enjoy that Bacchus is very similar from year to year. It doesn't really grow old to me and I appreciate the nostalgia.

Agree with this, but it isn't like the majority of their floats don't change with the theme each year. So, it is never the same parade.

Exactly. They mix it up enough. I've heard a rumor this year that they're lowering limiting the bands, dancers, etc... that go in between the parades. Anyone know if this is true? I'll be really disappointed if this is true because I think those are just as good as the floats in terms of entertainment. And they add a nice break betweeen getting plastic hurled at you. The music also helps set a fun atmosphere.

The city? Why would they want to eliminate bands participating?

I haven't heard this.

Not eliminate but lower the number allowed. I don't have any credible info other than someone in my office who knows someone who walks in major parades with dance groups. The reasoning they gave was the major parades were getting too long. I have no idea if its true but I'm wondering if anyone else has heard anything similar.

they're supposedly trying to make the parades faster...I really enjoy the adult dance groups, what I personally would like to see is to get rid of the sound trucks behind them...

now, I don't normally catch parades during the first weekend so I don't know if you have the kiddie marching groups, i.e. the twirler groups with the 5 and 6 year olds...now that was a pain in the rear end!!!

I do wish we could go back to the day of having several different routes...I think it'd be nice to have Mid City go back to the Mid City route and take some of the stress off of St Charles Ave...

the one year I rode the uptown route was after Bacchus and it sucked donkeys!!!

Not a fan. But I'm young and am always sad when I see fire trucks rolling by.

Agreed, I enjoy all the parades and hate to see them end.

Eh that doesn't really affect my group because we always watch Uptown. Hopefully they don't have the floats whizzing by. It's nice to have them sort of coast and enjoy them, especially if you know someone on the float.

Thoth rider. We own our floats and have spent the past few years building new ones and upgrading. For example...solid core tires and new frames.

We always have a theme that we stick to. We have 38 floats parading and that is more like 50 when considering the tandems.

We have two large dens where a group of artists work year round to tie them in to a theme. So to say it is a hodge lodge of rentals isn't accurate.

We have over 1700 riders and I guarantee: you will catch just as much at our parade as you would if you attended every other parade.

We pride ourselves on throwing...a lot.

Plus our route is the best in Mardi Gras.

As far as Endymion and bacchus, they have been upgrading for close to two decades and are incredible processions. As far as sheet spectacle: Endymion.
