Surprisingly, everyone I know who moved to New Orleans absolutely LOVES it.
I've never had the desire to try, but Metairie is very close.

I know right. It's only been one of the hottest real estate markets in the state for the last five years. Nobody wants to live here.

Meraux in St Bernard Parish. All of the school's it is zoned to are highly rated and housing prices are affordable. Plus cheap lots if you want to build. Can be in downtown in 15 min.

NOLA has been one of the hottest real estate markets in the state? Try far and away the hottest real estate market in the state.
I've been waiting for the bubble to burst for almost 5 years and it gets more and more insane.

I live in Metairie and can get off at Poydras in around 5 minutes...plus, I don't have to live in da parish.
If I needed to buy a bigger house somewhere, it would either be in Old Metairie or Madisonville

Davies elementary is an A school that won the Blue Ribbon award a couple of years ago.
Trist Middle is a B school.
CHS is an A school with some of the best facilities in the state.
Entire district is top 10.

Maybe Metairie east of bonnabel.
Traffic in Metairie sucks. I grew up there. Overpriced.
