My major professor had a camp in Bayou Lafourche near Little Lake when I was in grad school. Good fishing.

on Bruin it helps to know people that are up there all the time with their ears open. Camps on Bruin come available and sometimes deals are made and they never hit the market if you know what I mean. I know of three camps sold in the last 18 months that all happened without ever hitting MLS, Zillow, etc. Talk with Paula Wilhite or Jane Netterville to keep a look out for you - they are realtors that live on Bruin. The camp next to us is quietly shopping for a buyer without making it public - Wilhite or Netterville dont even know about that one

That's the thing about Bruin, you have to be in the loop or part of the social circle to get a whiff of most of those camps coming up for sale and the ones that do make it to the public, well you better be OT rich to afford it.

Cypress/Black Bayou

Eta: you said camp, you won’t find one on either of those. Only expensive houses. But great skiing locations and it has cabins you can rent.

We used to have a camp on Bistineau which is like D’Arbonne’s retarded cousin and eaten up with salvinia when it isn’t drained.

False river is the same. Too damn hoity toity and pricey. I like good fishing without all the swampy areas. Kids need to be able to swim and ski, and there needs to be stuff to do in the area. That's why I like mid lake toledo bend.

No love for Larto Lake?

Amazing lake.
But you can’t get there from here.

I'm partial to Lake Claiborne, but I grew up there and have property on the Airport Loop out there. I will say I'm worried there is a nascent Salvinia problem that bears watching, and there is a whole lot more traffic from people who don't know how to drive boats on a busy waterway these days.

That being said, town is sleepy but with a few good places to get a bite to eat, land is beautiful, and the lake is one of the deepest and cleanest in the state with a very well marked easily navigable channel going from one end of the lake to the other.
