First thing I remember being Viral was in 1999. People were emailing that file with subject line "TURN VOLUME ALL THE WAY UP".
It was a wav file with that Initech Icon(From Office Space) that plays a quote like
"Hey everybody. I'm watching Porno Over here! WOOHOO!"
