Fair enough. But, alcohol is a drug - just a legal one.

but no drinking?
My family had more than its share of overindulgers. I found it off-putting and didn't see any net benefit for the user. My father didn't cop to being an alcoholic (and he probably wasn't, by the strict definition that an alcoholic needs alcohol to function), but he also stopped drinking at 26, which provided a male role model suggesting that alcohol was a completely unnecessary distraction.
Couple that with a clear family trait of overindulgence (to a fault) - and it was much easier for me to say no as a teenager and continue that through life.

frick dude, I am impressed. But I guess once you get past 30 its not that hard.
one of my muslim friends had his first drink at 40. he did 3 shots of vodka, and then passed out. I thought this really strange.

I'm a lawyer, and in the military.

No, seriously, it is much easier to say no and just stick with it. Just my opinion. I haven't missed a thing.

I've never smoked....anything. No cigarettes, no cigars, no black & milds, no drugs of any kind. Just never appealed to me. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke.

Consumed alcoholic beverages
My dad was a 100% life-long tea totaller and it killed him before he was 60. His blood was too thick. I will always believe that he would've lived way longer if he would have taken a bit of wine or whatever just for the well documented health benefits of it. He was always too hung up on the fallacy that only abject drunks partake in alcoholic drinking.
Good luck to you.
