Do you go by the mileage written on the sticker in the top left of your windshield or the maintenance minder system in the car?

I usually drive a few thousand miles more than the sticker until the maintenance minder says there’s 15% oil life left.

What do you baws do?

I'll ask the former F1 crew chief I keep on staff to maintain my vehicle fleet.

Neither.

Both come from entities that benefit from your getting oil changes more frequently.

Read your owners manual and it will tell you when your recommended services are due.

intelligent oil life monitors are nails these days. Follow them when using an oil that meets manufacturer specs.

Tell me. How many vehicles have you replaced in the last 10 years?

I do just to have a quick "look see" reminder of when I got it last, and at what milage. Otherwise I'll have to look at records, and I "forget" to do that since the thought is a passing one. Ha.

But I usually wait for my veh to go ding ding ding.

Gonna kind of highjack to ask a similar question, but is it worth it to drain transmission fluid and refill?

I’m about there on my truck but I’ve seen some arguments saying it can screw your tranny up by moving around the bits of shavings and crap that’s inside.

Change it when the dashboard tells me. Last two changes have been around 9000 miles each.

Usually service my wife's car when the car tells me it needs it.

For my vehicle, I usually just change it at around 5k miles, or a year. Whichever comes first (it's been the year lately).

A simple drain and refill of the pain will only replace 15-20% of the ATF. I've always completely flushed it using the transmission lines going to the cooler

Zero...nor have I had any oil related issues.....I've done this (with AMSOIL) with an '01 Sierra (traded it in with 165K miles on it) and an '06 Tacoma (traded it in with 174K on it) and have a '15 Sierra right now with 61K on it.

Ok, the flush is what I’ve read can screw the thing up. Is this an urban legend?

I just pour a little oil (about a cup) in the gas tak every time I fill up. Never officially change it.
